| Hachette Filipacchi China announces new publishing management organization - April 21, 2004 |

 | Hachette Filipacchi China today announced the appointment of Ms. Gu Ming and Mr. Hugues de Vautibault to the position of Publisher for the consumer magazines which the company publishes on the mainland in form of copy-right cooperation with the Chinese partners.
Based in Shanghai, Ms. Gu Ming will be responsible at her new capacity for ELLE and its extended brands ELLE Decoration, and other titles being launched in Shanghai later. Meanwhile, Mr. Vautibault will be based in Beijing and responsible for Marie Claire, Woman’s Day, Car and Driver, as well as the company’s custom publications BMW Magazine and Mercedes. As publishers, they will be charged with responsibilities for all editorial, advertising sales, marketing, circulation and production activities for the magazines they each represent. They both will in turn report directly to Hachette Filipacchi China’s Managing Director Mr. CAO Weiming.
Commenting on these appointments, Mr. CAO Weiming said, ”We are truly pleased that we now have on board two strong and experienced publishers to look after the development of our publications in China. With the rapid growth of our business in one of the world’s most dynamic markets, this new organization structure will enable us to prepare for future activities at both strategic and operational levels in the times to come.”
Gu Ming joined Hachette Filipacchi Medias in 1999 as the first China Division Representative based in Shanghai. In 2001, she was promoted to Associate Publisher responsible for all advertising sales and marketing activities for the company’s main publications on the mainland.
Hugues de Vautibault joined Hachette Filipacchi Medias in 2000 and was formerly President of Hachette Ein*s Media in Korea. Prior to his magazine experience, Hugues had worked for 10 years in sales and marketing for Danone Group between Asia and France.
Hachette Filipacchi China is part of Hachette Filipacchi Medias, the world’s largest consumer magazine publishing company which produces over 238 magazines across five continents. In 2002, the Paris-based company ran over 130,000 advertising pages, reached more than 1 billion readers and reported revenues exceeding 2.2 billion euros.
